________
Atlanta Constitution - Mrs. Minnie Whitten, aged 25 years, died at the residence, 25 Clay street, Thursday night at 10 o'clock. She is survived by her husband, J. L. Whitten. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Minnie had a baby about a week before her death. The baby died at birth. Minnie had some kind of fever from the pregnancy and succummed to it.

She already had one child, May Whitten, born in May of 1908.

Her father, Dr. Brantley, was treating her.

There was a family squabble between Dr. Brantley and Minnie's husband. Dr. Brantley blamed her husband for getting her pregnant. Her husband blamed Dr. Brantley because he was her doctor and he didn't save her. The surviving daughter was kept away from the Brantley side of her family.
_______________
May's husband, Laurence Green Whitten died just a few years later. He was working in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He was killed when he touched a live wire. He was a lineman.

His body was sent back to Atlanta for burial. He died on August 30, 1917, but was not buried until 9/11/1917 - see ID#258019042

May's grandparents (Whitten's), then raised her and time was shared between them and the Brantley grandparents.

May's daughter, China, has contacted me and shared all of this information. We are thrilled to find each other.
_______
Minnie and her baby are both kin to me. Her father was my GGrandfather, so Minnie was my Grand Aunt.
