J. Henry Tipton, formerly of Downingtown

J. Henry Tipton, 82, of Newland, NC, formerly of Downingtown, PA, died on Thursday, March 11, 1993, in Sloop Memorial Hospital, Newland, NC, following a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Margaret Lyster Tipton.

Born in Mitchell County, NC, he was a son of the late Fieldon and Hester Lewis Tipton.

He resided in North Carolina for four years, was a former resident of Pennsylvania, and retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Downingtown, PA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William H. Tipton of Coudersport, PA; five daughters, Esther J. Greene of Newland, NC, E. Jane Coffman of Thorndale, PA, and Francis N. Castle, Virginia M. Griffith and Henrietta Murray, all of Coatesville, PA; and five brothers, Edward Tipton, Bruce Tipton, Samuel Tipton, Fieldon Tipton, and Isaac Tipton, all of Downingtown, PA; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at the Ralston & Bredickas Funeral Home, 107 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA.

Interment will be in Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery, East Brandywine, PA.
