Note: His birth certificate has his given names as John Floyd, but I've always known of him as John Alfred. Possibly his name was initially recorded incorrectly.

Note: His birth certificate shows he was born Nov. 30, 1923. However, his Social Security Death Index record says he was born Sept. 12, 1921, and his obituary says Nov. 20, 1922. November 1923 is consistent with his 1930 & 1940 census records.

Jack and Gloria Elizabeth Garvin were married in St. James Church, Gouverneur, N.Y.

MEXICO— John A. LaMora, 51, of County Route 16, Texas, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at his home. Born in Newton Falls, Nov. 20, 1922, Mr. LaMora was the son of the late Charles A. and Mary LaRose LaMora. Mr. LaMora was a construction electrician and World War II veteran having served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Paratroopers. He was a member of the Watertown Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife Gloria Garvin LaMora; two daughters, Mrs. Melanie Thomas and Mrs. Pamela McConnell; a son, John LaMora of Syracuse; four brothers, George of Madrid, Royal of ElPasso, Calif., Clarence of Gouverneur and Richard of Canandaigua; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Serviss of Richville.
... Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
