George W. LaMora
MADRID — Funeral services for George W. LaMora, 64, Bridge Street, Madrid, were held Saturday (Oct. 3, 1981) at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madrid with Msgr. Joseph Bailey officiating. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Fay G. Mann Funeral Home.
Mr. LaMora died in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Syracuse Tuesday (Sept. 29, 1981).
Surviving are seven sons, George, China Lake, Calif.; Michael and Gerald, Waddington; Patrick, Holyoke, Mass.; David, Portland, Ore.; and William and Terry, Madrid; two daughters, Gloria LaMora and Mrs. Dan (Jacqueline) Petrie, both of Lisbon; a sister, Mrs. George (Helen) Serfiss, N.C.; three brothers, Roy, Eltoro, Calif.; and Clarence and Richard, both of Gouverneur; and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. LaMora was born in Potsdam Feb. 24, 1917, son of Charles and Mary LaRose LaMora. He married Gloria Shaffner in St. Mary's Church in Watertown Nov. 16, 1936. The couple lived in Carthage for several years following their marriage, and for the past 14 years lived in Madrid. Mrs. LaMora died in 1978.
