WILLIAM FREDERICK AND SARAH JANE ALLBRIGHT



In the recent deaths of William F. and Sarah J. Allbright of Rosedale, Parke county loses worthy representatives of two of the oldest and best pioneer families. Mr. Allbright was the oldest son of John and Rachel Barnes Allbright. He was born near Waveland 75 years ago, but most of his life was passed in Raccoon township, where his parents moved soon after his birth. For a number of years he lived on a farm near Terre Haute, later locating in that city and afterwards in Rosedale. He and Mrs. Allbright were passing the winter with their son, Roy Allbright, north of Rosedale, on account of feeble health, when the end came, Mr. Allbright dying on February 4 and his wife on the following Wednesday.



Mr. Allbright was twice married, the first time to Miss Martha Baxter; a son, Fred Allbright, now a well-known merchant of Rosedale, was born of this union. After Mrs. Allbright's death. he was married to Miss Sarah Jane Yowel, who survived him less than a week. Of this marriage, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Rigney of Vigo county, and three sons, Perry of Terre Haute, R. D. of Chicago and Roy of Rosedale vicinity survive. Mr. Allbright was affiliated with the Baptist church uniting at Friendly Grove when a young man. He was a man, who by his honest and rigid adherence in the right woe for himself so honorable reputation and died as he had lived, with the respect of all who knew him.



Mrs. Allbright was also a devout member of the Baptist church, of which her father, the late Rev. Lafe Yowell. was a well-known minister. She was 62 years of age and a most estimable woman who enjoyed the high esteem of a wide circle of friends.



Besides the children, Mr. Allbright leaves to mourn, five sisters, Mrs. John B. Hartman and Miss Shaddy Allbright of Raccoon township; Mrs. W. D. Adams and Mrs. John Yowell, of Rosedale. and Mrs. Overton Callis of Adams township, and four brothers. Henry Allbright of Rosedale; John of Raccoon township; Rufus of California and Thomas of Brazil; and Mrs. Allbright leaves two brothers, John and Lattle Yowell of Rosedale.



Funeral services were held for the husband at Friendly Grove church on Sunday, Feb. 7, and for the wife at the same place on the following Saturday, and each was laid to rest in the Forks of the Creek cemetery near the scenes of their childhood.
