Mrs. Mercedes Casado, 62, a native of Spain, died Saturday in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1887 in Don Benito, Spain, she came to Port Huron 25 years ago after residing in Lorrain, O., and Erie, Pa.
She was married in 1908 to Antonio Casado. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers, Blue Star Mothers of America and the Auxiliary to Charles A. Hammond post No. 8, American Legion.
Mrs. Casado is survived by her husband, five sons, John G. Casado, Marysville; Richard A. Casado, Detroit; Louis G. Casado Sr., Emilio J. and Peter F. Casado, all of Port Huron; three daughters, Mrs. Antonio Vincent, Flushing, Mich., and Mrs. Carmen Telles and Miss Isabel Casado, both of Port Huron; a brother in France, a brother and three sisters in Spain and 10 grandchildren. A son, Angelus G. Casado, was killed in August, 1942 while on duty with the U. S. Navy.
The remains are in the Kipp funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas A. Connell, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
