T. and A. W. Poston of this place and J. B. Poston of Perth, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Poston were the third settlers in Adams county, both having made the journey from Southern Missouri by ox team, the trip requiring five weeks for completion. The first election in Adams county was held at the Poston home and Mrs. Poston cooked the dinner for the voters. Mr. Poston was at that time chosen to fill the office of county clerk. It was in 1854 that they moved to the home two and one half miles southeast of Villisca.
