Services for John A. Stenstrom, 78, 811 6th Avenue, a Rockford resident the last 49 years, who died yesterday in his home, will be held at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Fred C. Olson mortuary, 1001 2nd Avenue. The Rev. Wilbert E. Benson, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery.

Mr. Stenstrom, a shipping clerk for the Free Sewing Machine division of Rockford Cabinet Company, had been ill for a short time.

Born in Sweden, Dec. 5, 1868, he was brought to the United States by his parents when eight years old and lived at Pecatonica before moving to Rockford in 1897.

Surviving are his widow, Mathilda; a son, Arnold; two sisters, Miss Mary Stenstrom and Mrs. August Phelps, and two grandchildren, all of Rockford.
