"Mrs. Vaughn Dies After Long Illness. The death of Mrs. L.A. Vaughn 55, occurred at her home on Law street, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. following a long illness. About a week before Christmas she became ill and for a time was confined to her bed. Sometime after she was able to be about but was later taken to Memorial hospital for treatment. Here she remained for five weeks when she was removed to her home four weeks ago. She has been confined to her bed the greater share of the time.
Mrs. L.A. Vaughn, nee Miss Anna Raasch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Raasch, was born Sept. 17, 1873 in Germany. When she was seven years of age she came with her parents to this county, the family settling in Bloomfield. She lived here until her marriage, Sept. 26, 1893, to Lute Vaughn, the ceremony taking place in this city. The 28 years following her marriage, Mrs. Vaughn lived in Manawa, the family coming here ten years ago. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Evan, of Clintonville, and Dean of this city, and one daughter, Miss Eleanor, of Milwaukee, three sisters, Mrs. Henry Rachu of Fenwood, Mrs. August Meshke, this city, and Miss Clara Raasch and one brother, Albert Raasch of Ladysmith. Three children, one son and two daughters died in infancy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the home with Rev. Ad. Spiering, officiating. Interment was in the Manawa cemetery. Bearers were Oscar Allen, Nate Lozier, William Kopitzke, Lester Bovee and Lester Quimby."
