MELVIN CLAYTON SMITH

Melvin C. (Smitty) Smith, age 78, of West Milton, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Hospice of Dayton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Seabee's; and retired after 30 years of service from General Motors, Inland Division, Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia, active with the Thursday morning Classic's Group and an avid long time golfer at Homestead Golf Course.

Mel was the son of William Franklin and Josephine (Suiter) Smith. He is predeceased by his first wife Dixie (Lewis) Smith and Sons, Roger Cecil Smith And Jon David Smith.

His loving wife of 41 years, Bernice Smith, survives him along with Daughters, Debbie and Bill Sloan of Tipp City, Pam and Tom Russellof Springboro; Sons, Don Smith of Dayton and Don and Sheila Snyder of Englewood; sisters, Versie Burnside of Trotwood, Oh. & Velva Pennington of Somerset, Ky.; five grandchildren: Kevin, Andrea, Billy, Julie and Lauren; and numerous relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday 10.00 AM at Terebinski Funeral Home, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Butler Twp. with Rev Charles Betts officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery. Visitors may call at the funeral home Monday 6-8 PM. If desired contributions may be made in his honor to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church of Vandalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold, Corbett and Earl Smith; and sisters, Beulah Heindl Coleman and Bethel (Leighton) Spencer.
