Donnie Lee Bellamy
GATE CITY , Va. - Donnie Lee Bellamy, 65, Route 3, went to be with his Lord surrounded by his family Tuesday ( Feb. 23, 1999 ) at Holston Valley Medical Center .
He was born and lived most of his life in Scott County, Va. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company's S&M Division in the early 1980s for health reasons. He was a member of Chalybeate Springs United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school superintendent, teacher and member of various committees. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Korea as a communications specialist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Lee and Martha Kate Snapp Bellamy.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ruby Faye Bellamy, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Faye and Rodney Rowlett II, Kingsport; two grandsons, Bart and Luke Rowlett, Kingsport; three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Edna) Houseright, Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Wininger and Mrs. Tyler (Dorothy) Davidson Jr., all of Gate City, Va.; three brothers, Edley H. Bellamy and Charles S. Bellamy, both of Gate City, Va., and Grady A. Bellamy, Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and close dear friends.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City , Va. , and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chalybeate Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. W.R. Grimm and the Rev. Grover Starnes officiating. A eulogy will be read by Ethel Taylor. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3.
Pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Ivan Taylor, Jimmy Haynes, Tommy Fields, David Wininger, Eddie Wininger, Daryle Houseright and Frank Bellamy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Tate, Dean Snapp, Clarence Wininger, J.C. McGee, Mike Bellamy, Tommy Bellamy, Robbie Starnes and David "Spanky" Wood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chalybeate Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Edsel Bellamy, Route 3, Box 61 , Gate City , VA 24251 or to the charity of one's choice.
