Claude Lee Bellamy
Gate City – Claude Lee Bellamy, 68, died at his residence, Route 3, at 8:45 a.m. Friday, after a lingering illness.
A retired farmer, he was a veteran of World War I. He lived in the Chalybeate Springs Community. He was a member of the Chalybeate Springs Methodist Church.
He was the son of the late Nathaniel and Edna Pannell Bellamy. His brother, Lester A. Bellamy, died Thursday, June 19.
Survivors include: his widow, Mrs. Kate Snapp Bellamy; three daughters, Mrs. Edward Houseright, Mrs. Paul Wininger, both of Gate City, Rt. 3, and Mrs. Tyler Davidson, Jr., of Kingsport; four sons, Edley Hugh, Charles, Donnie, all of Gate city, Rt. 3, and Grady of Kingsport; four sisters, Mrs. Kelly Snapp, Mrs. Roy Falin, Mrs. Howard Shelton and Mrs. H. F. Bradshaw, all of Gate City, Rt. 3; and two brothers, W.L. (Bill) Bellamy of Gate City, Rt. 3, and Mack Bellamy of Lemon Cove, Calif. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chalybeate Springs Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Williams, the Rev. Lucian Lane and the Rev. Kyle Calhoun will officiate. Burial will be in the Holston View Cemetery, with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3382 of Kingsport in charge of Military rites at the grave.
Nephews will be pallbearers and nieces flowerbearers.
The body will be taken to the home at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Scott County Funeral Home. It will be taken to the church one hour before the funeral.
