Final Rites for W.A. Alford, 76, Held at Forkville

Funeral services were held for William Alvie Alford, 76, of Forkville on Sunday afternoon, October 20th, at 2:30 from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Martin Williams and Rev. W.C. Wall officiating. Interment was in the Hodge Hill Cemetery with Ott & Lee Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Alford passed away in the Veterans Administration hospital on Friday [October 18], after an extended illness. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rosie [sic] Florence Alford of Morton; five daughters, Mrs. Leon Fitzhugh and Mrs. Buford Crapps, both of Lena, Mrs. Ausbon Harrison of Lake, Mrs. Clifton Shaw of Forest, and Mrs. Lane McCurdy of Morton; three sons, Bernard Alford of Jackson, S.J. Alford of Harlem, Ga., and Arthur Neal Alford of Morton; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Thompson of Morton; and three brothers, Bob, Walter, and Frank, all of Morton.

The pallbearers were Clifton Alford, Ray Alford, Billy F. Alford, Earnest Thompson, J.W. Thompson, Jefferson Thompson.
