Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Shaw will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Duncan and Bro. Paul Shaw officiating. Interment will be in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Music for the service will be provided by Mrs. Natalie Emmons.


Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the funeral home.


Mrs. Shaw, age 88, and a longtime resident of the Forest area passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Lackey Convalescent Home. She will be remembered as a caring, giving, and hardworking person. She loved her family very much and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nellie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves a legacy as a devoted caregiver for her late husband, Robert Clifton Shaw, noted, that they “took care of each other.” They were owners of the Shaw Grocery. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Steele Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Clifton Shaw; her parents: Alvie and Rosa Slade Alford; and her siblings: Anna Belle Fitzhugh, Bernard Alford, Irene Martin, Yvonne Harrison, Arthur Neal Alford, and Komack Alford.

Survivors include her two children: Jeannie (Felix) Parnell of Forest and Robert (Nancy) Shaw of Bastrop, LA; one sister: Mecie Gay Crapps of Ludlow; one brother: Samuel J. Alford of Forkville; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Royce Shaw, Edwin Harrison, Paul Shaw, Kris Dolan, Brady Willcutt, and Allen WIllcutt.


Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons: Hunter Harris, Brennan Willcutt, Jon Paul Shaw, Lane Dolan, Preston Harris; and Jeff Shaw.
