John Q. Toman, 89, Taken by Death
John Q. Toman, 89, former resident of the Hawkins vicinity and for the past 12 years a resident of Muskegon, passed away on November 11, 1954, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Wilson, at 1506 Eighth street. Mr. Toman, formerly employed at the Lakeside plant of Norge division until 1947, had made his home with his daughter. He had been ill five weeks. Born October 15, 1865, in Ontario, Canada, he had lived in this vicinity for 76 years. He was married here on March 22, 1888, to the former Frances E. Hissong. The couple celebrated their 60-th anniversary in 1948. Mrs. Toman died Nov. 4, 1952. Educated in Osceola county rural schools Mr. Toman was a member of the Barton Evangelical United Brethren church. Surviving are four sons, E. A. of Jackson, Francis of Evart, Ernest F. and Ralph of Muskegon; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer McGeehan of Muskegon and Ms. Wilson; two brothers, Jacob and James of Reed City and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Seager of Reed City and Mrs. Tom Henretty of Ohio; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral srvices wee held Nov. 15 at Muskegon with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
