GEORGE MORIN Sr.
George Morin, Sr., a World War II Veteran, better known as "Judd" of 114 North St., died at Putnam Memorial Hospital Friday night after a long illness.
He was born in Bennington Feb 4, 1907, a son of John Z. and Adelaine (Breault) Morin, and received his education in the Bennington schools.
He served in the Army in World War II. He was a chef most of his life and well known in the area, employed at the Warner Nursing Home until retirement in 1969 because of ill health.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion Post No 13. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
He was married to the former Jennie Gavone.
Survivors are two sons, George Jr. and Donald, both of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., four grandsons; six sisters, Mrs. Catherine Roberts and Mrs. Irene O'Grady of Bennington, Miss Alice Morin of Westport, Conn., Miss Mary Jane Morin of Bennington and Mrs. Rita Cole of Meriden, Conn. and Mrs. Thomas (Virginia) Ayer of Shaftsbury; five brothers, John S. of San Bernardino, Calif., Gerald J. Sr. of Hoosick Falls, Richard J. of Schenectady, N.Y., John D. of Bennington, and Charles J. of Schenectady; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. If friends desire, contributions may be made in his memory to Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
