Mrs. Sophia Shivers, sister of Mrs. Chris Ericksen of Grand Island, died Tuesday in her home at Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Shivers had been in ill health with a heart ailment for several years.
Funeral rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Livingston Sondermann Funeral Home. the Rev. Dennis Anderson will conduct the service. Interment will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Shivers was born June 11, 1893 on a farm in Saline County. When she was a small child, the family came to Grand Island and it was there that she received her schooling and grew to young womanhood.
She entered the employ of the telephone company at Thermopolis, Wyo. Six years later, she was transferred to Los Angeles. She retired in 1958. she had been a resident of Alhambra since her retirement.
Mrs. Shivers was a member of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Chris Ericksen of Grand Island; a brother, Henry Bartels of Alhambra, Calif., and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
