Marion Franklin Poynter, 82, of Berea, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at his residence following a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Rockcastle County, born August 23, 1928, son of the late Laney and Agnes Lambert Poynter, retired Bluegrass Army Depot employee, member of Berea Masonic Lodge #617 F&AM, and Fairview Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 58 years.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn Wagers Poynter; 3 children, James (Angelia) Poynter, Lois Barnett, Joyce (Homatau) Holt; 6 brothers, Clayton, Laney Jr., Russell, George, Donald, David; 5 grandchildren, Kelly Lynn, Marion Edward, Anna, Laney, Cassie; as well as, a host of relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Warren, Robert, Delbert.
