Claude Edward Sublett, 81, of McCoy, died Saturday, January 30, 1993, at his home. Mr. Sublett was born in Pulaski County on December 8, 1911, and was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Samuel and Mrs. Ellie Sublett, and one sister. He was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas and in the National Guard for three years. After working as a coal miner for several years, he worked as a carpenter, and was a member of Centennial Christian Church in McCoy. Surviving are his wife, Francie Hungate Sublett; one son and daughter-in-law, Alfred "Al" and Kathryn "Kay" Sublett, McCoy; five brothers, Harry Sublett, Lewis Sublett, Rev. Herbert Sublett, John R. Sublett and Mark Sublett; seven sisters, Amy S. Quillan, Eunice S. Robinette, Ruth S. Blankenship, Myrtle S. Arthur, Wanda S. Gills, Ida Mae S. Clay and Eldora S. Fleeger; one granddaughter, Trenece R. Rowley; and two grandsons, Chris Sublett and Michael Sublett. Also surviving are five very special great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, at Centennial Christian Church with the Rev. Gordon Lee and Mr. Bobby E. Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Longshop-McCoy Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Box 489, McCoy, Va. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
