Rev. Herbert E. Sublett, 79, of Salem, passed away Thursday, July 24, 1997. Rev. Sublett was an ordained minister for 63 years. He was the minister of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Salem for 24 years. He was a past secretary/treasurer of the Appalachian District, Assemblies of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret K. Sublett; a son, Elwyne E (Chucky) Sublett; three brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Sublett; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Janet Sublett; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Alice and David Walton, Loretta and Donald Boggs, and Wynona (Nonie) and Kevin Findley; a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Sublett; stepchildren, Patricia and William Brown, David Stokes, and Danny and Jeanette Stokes; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers; seven sisters; three stepgrandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday, July 28, 1997, at Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Irvin Steiding officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1683 Red Lane Ext., Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Church Building Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
