Myrtle Madeline Arthur, age 90, of Waiteville, WV, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at her residence. Born July 18, 1930 at Montcalm, WV, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ella Hamlin Sublett. Myrtle was a graduate of Montcalm High School. She worked several years as a seamstress at Craig Manufacturing in New Castle, VA. She was an extraordinary and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She always cared for people. Often, she would write letters and send cards to loved ones and friends just to check on how they were doing. She enjoyed the simple things of life. She loved to just sit in her swing outside and drink her coffee and admire her beautiful flowers around her home. She cherished her family dearly. She also loved her church family, and was a member of the Christian Life International Church in Salem, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin H. Arthur; five brothers, Claude, Mark, Lewis, Harry, and Herbert Sublett; six sisters, Wanda Gills, Ida Mae Clay, Amy Quillen, Ruth Blankenship, Eunice Robinett, and Maxine Sublett; and one granddaughter, Kelly Lawrence. Survivors include, one son, James "Jim" Arthur of Waiteville, WV; one daughter, Pam Ayers of Kingsport, TN; one sister, Eldora Fleeger of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Heather Lawrence, Tiffany Clark, Dani Ayers, Sami Ayers, David Ayers, Jr., Megan Ayers, and Jimmy Garrett; four great-grandchildren, Ceara Clark, Malachi Clark, Marlee Lawrence, and Oakley Smith; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery at Waiteville, WV. The Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family will serve as Pallbearers. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic regulations, those who are planning on attending the services are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
