Daniel McKillip was the son of John McKillip and Agnes Hannah of North Carolina. His family moved to Jefferson Township, Fayette County, Ohio about 1808. Daniel was married to Nancy Lawson on May 10, 1820 and had seven children: James, John, William, Lucinda, Caroline, Jackson, and Louisa. Lucinda died in infancy. In 1828 Daniel and his family move to Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Daniel died at the age of 35 years 4 months and 18 days. His widow was left with 5 young children and another on the way. She married John White on April 21, 1836, and when she was widowed again she married William Kendall on Oct. 14, 1847, widower of Daniel McKillip's sister Elizabeth McKillip Kendall. Their daugher Louisa is an enigma. In family records only her death date was given and she is not listed among the other children of Daniel and Nancy. She appears with the children of Nancy and Daniel in the 1850 census at age 17, making her birth falling just after Daniel's death. Daniel was my second-great-grandfather.

Excerpt from son, John's bio. "...Daniel and Nancy (Lawson) McKillip, settled in Tippecanoe Township on section 28. The father lived on the land on which he first settled after coming to the county until his death, which occurred in 1832. He left at his death a widow and five children, Mrs. McKillip surviving her husband's death for many years. She died in August 1880, at the advanced age of eighty-four years. Of their children, James is now a resident of White County; William died aged twenty-two years; John is the subject of this sketch; Mrs. Caroline Walker is deceased, and Jackson lives in White County. Daniel McKillip was in politics a Democrat. He was a consistent member of the New Light Church."
