Nancy Lawson was born in Virginia, the daughter of Zachariah Lawson and Agnes Jones.

She married Daniel McKillip on the 10th of May 1820 in Jeffersonville, Fayette County, Ohio.

The first of their children, James McKillip was born on the 7th of April 1821 followed by William McKillip born on November 25th, 1822. Lucinda McKillip was born on 21st March 1825. Lucinda died as a baby in Ohio. and John McKillip was born on January 20, 1827.

In 1828 Daniel moved his family to Indiana and set up farming in Tippecanoe County near Battleground. Caroline McKillip was the first of their children to be born in Indiana arriving on 16th of May 1829 and Jackson McKillip who was born 30 May 1831. Daniel died on 28 Oct. 1832 and their last child, Louisa McKillip, was born soon afterward in 1833.

Nancy married a second time to a widower, John White on the 21st April 1836. John died on 6 Oct. 1846.

Nancy married the final time to her first husband's brother-in-law William Kendall after his first wife Elizabeth McKillip died also in 1846. Nancy and William were married on 14 October 1847. Their children were both cousins and step-siblings.

This marriage lasted a good many years until Nancy died at the age of 84.
