Mr. John Wesley Buchanan, son of the late Mr. Hansel Buchanan and Mrs. Dora Blankenship Buchanan, was born 13 Jul 1915 in Green Co. and departed this life at 12:30 pm Tues. 9 Aug 1983 at Norton's Hospital in Louisville. he was 68 years, and 27 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summershade United Methodist church at the time of his death. He united in marriage to Miss Ruby Squires 23 Dec 1944 who survives. To this union were born 5 sons and 3 daughters: Kenneth Buchanan, Bobby Buchanan and Tim Buchanan all of Greensburg; Reid Buchanan, Jasper, Alabama; Jerry Buchanan, Franklin, Tenn.; Mrs. Janice Herman, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; Mrs. Claudette Wygal, Scottsboro, Alabama and Mrs. Debra Brizendine, Bowling Green, Ky. Mr. Buchanan is also survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister: Frank and Robert Buchanan, both of Greensburg; Twyman Buchanan, Orlando, Fl., and Mrs. Gracie Kelly, Greensburg; 11 grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 11 am Thurs. 11 Aug 1983 with burial in the Coffey Cem. Revs. Pat Humphrey and W.D. Strader officiated. Active pallbearers were Marcus Kessler, Dale Buchanan, Donnie Buchanan, Harold Squires, Volen McMahan, and Glen D. Hancock. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Shirley, Danny Burris, Paul McFarland, Samp Acree, Dallas Blankenship, James A. Kelly, Teddy Upchurch, Billie Gumm, Bloyd Tucker, Rue Burris, Eunie Burris, L.C. Reliford, Phillip Jeffries and James DeSpain.
