Glade Brown Horner 1921 ~ 2008 Heber City-
Glade Brown Horner, born November 30, 1921, in Heber City, Utah, to William Eaton (Papa Bill) and Esther Brown Horner, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Glade graduated from Wasatch High School and married his childhood sweetheart, Yvonne Hicken, November 7, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together Glade and Yvonne owned and operated Hicken Feed and Produce, and Horner's Custom Combining. He also worked as an electrician, custodian and bus driver. He served as an electrician in the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theatre of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served as the Commander of the American Legion Lockhart Post 23 for over 50 years. Glade was an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt with his family members; but his passion in life was service to others. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Glade held many callings. His favorite calling was that of Scout Master where he was awarded the Silver Beaver and touched the lives of hundreds of young men. He served over 50 years as a worker in the Salt Lake, Timpanogos, and Provo LDS Temples. He and Yvonne served a mission together to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Yvonne; daughter, Sharon (Charles) Jenkins; and his four sons, Harvey (Sherry), Kenneth (Caryl), Keith (Shanna), and Steven (Shauna); 31 grandchildren,; 75 great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Rulon Huntington and Don Hicken.
He is preceded in death by twin daughters: Sonja and Shauna; grandsons, Curtis Horner, and Douglas Hadley; great-grandson, Joseph Stanley Jenkins; daughter-in-law, Shauna Horner; both parents; brother, Ferris; and sisters: Elva, Avis and Vonda. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2008, 11 a.m. in the Heber LDS 8th Ward, 655 South South Field Road (1200 West), Heber City, Utah. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the LDS Church and on Monday from 9- 10:30 a.m. prior to the services also at the LDS Church. Interment will follow the services in the Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Utah. Arrangements are in the care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City.
