"Mable", 1 of 12 children of Andrew & Harriet Clark, was infamous in the Clark family for "running away to join the circus" at the age of 16! She was first married to Charles Sherman Lafferty on Dec 25, 1894 in Montgomery, Iowa - but they were divorced after just a few months - no children from this marriage. Then she married Andrew Smith on April 6, 1898, in Grant City, Montgomery County, Iowa - divorced sometime in 1900 but they had a daughter, Gladys Irene Smith, born October 26, 1900. Mable then married Frederick A. Williams on July 25, 1904, in Essex, Ontario, Canada. He adopted her daughter Gladys & together they had at least 3 other children: Evelyn Grace; Harold; and Paul Williams.
