R. Colleen Lushell, 80, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away at 12:40 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 at her daughter's home in Fishers, IN.
Colleen Sherwood was born January 8, 1931 in Rushville, IN to Raymond and Mildred (Holden) Sherwood, both deceased. She married Wallace M. Lushell on October 27, 1951 and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1999.
Colleen worked several years at the Durbin Hotel and the Trane Corporation. Most recently she had worked as an aide with Rushville Elementary School. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a 1949 graduate of New Salem High School and active in the Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travel. Her greatest love was her family, especially her three grandsons.
She leaves behind her sons, Mike & wife Chris Lushell of Frankfort, IN, Mark & wife Marcia Lushell of Carmel, daughters, Carol & husband Scott Swaffar and Debi & husband Robert Ware both of Fishers, IN, brothers, David & wife Marilyn Sherwood of Andersonville, Bill & wife JoAnne Sherwood of New Palestine, Harley & wife Hallie Sherwood of Andersonville and Kermit & wife Judy Sherwood of New Salem, grandsons, Kyle, Reid and Cooper Lushell all of Carmel, brother-in-laws, Harold Souder and Lee Schroeder, both of Rush County and sister-in-law, Iris Greenwood of New Castle.
In addition to her parents and husband, Colleen was preceded in death by sisters, Carol Souder and Sandra Schroeder, brother, Chauncy and a half-brother.
