RITES TO BE HELD TUESDAY AT CHAPEL
John Calvin Allen, 70, died Friday of the Cerebral Hemorrhage at his home in Opal apartments, Red Oak. It is believed that death came suddenly, the body was found by Charley Abraham. He was a brick mason by trade.
Services will be held from the Sellergren Funeral Home at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, July 18, with Rev. Chas A. Speech officiating. Pall bearers will be Chas Abraham Herman Abraham, Tom Marcum, Frank Plowman, Nate Lewis, and Banks Bonney; musicians are Mrs. Orrin Carmichael; floral committee; Mrs Gerard Durham, Mrs. Vandelyn Miller. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
John Calvin Allen was born in Ringgold County, Iowa, April 7, 1874, a son of Morris and Minerva Allen. He was married to Dolly McGimsey in Red Oak, June 18, 1888. HIs wife preceded him in death three years ago. The deceased came to this community in 1890.
Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Vernon Allen, and Carroll Allen, Red Oak; two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Lobojko, Franklin Park, Illinois and Mrs. Velma Laggren, Palatine, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Jane Callaway, Baker, Oregon, Mrs. George McQueen, Baker, Oregon; Mrs. Nellie LaMarr, Des Moines; Mrs. Grant McQueen, and Mrs. Bud Houchin, Red Oak.
