SERVICES MONDAY FOR CARROLL ALLEN
VETERAN OF WORLD WAR 1 PASSED AWAY THURSDAY IN VET'S HOSPITAL AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 10, at 2:30 p.m. at the Sellergren Funeral Home for Carroll M. Allen, who died Thursday, February 6, at the Veteran's hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he had been a patient for several weeks, Death was caused by cancer which he had been afflicted for about eight months.
Rev. I. Fredmund was in charge of the services. Music was by Orrin Carmichael. Serving on the floral committee were Mrs. Mary Lewis and Mrs. Theresa Tinkham. Pall bearers Dean Stifle, John Smith, Ernest Wetterlind, Ernest Spangenberg, Ed Buehler, and Max Dughman. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Carroll M. Allen, son of John and Elizabeth Allen was born in Red Oak, October 13, 1897. He was married April 24, 1917 to Bertha Stewart in Red Oak. Most of his life was spent here. He was a mechanic and for several years was employed by the Farmers Mercantile Company. During World War 1 he served in the army and for many years had been a member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are the widow, three daughters, Mrs. James Allen and Mrs. Don Hood of Red Oak, and Mrs. Roy Mercer, Pocatello, Idaho. There are two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Loboy, Franklin Park, Illinois, and Mrs. Verma Laggren, Chicago and a brother, Vernon Allen.
