HEART DISEASE IS FATAL TO LONGTIME RESIDENT OF RED OAK
HAD BEEN ILL TWO YEARS
HERE NEARLY 60 YERAS
Mrs. John Allen, 64, a resident of Red Oak for nearly sixty years, passed away Thursday morning, April 24, at her home, 611 Grimes Street. Death was caused by heart disease, which had contributed to poor health for the past two years.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday from Sellergren Funeral home with Rev. Orval Walker, pastor of Christian Chruch of which she was a member, in charge. Pall bearers were Joe Johnson, Herman Abraham, Frank Plowman, Banks Boney, Jack Richardson, and Tom Marcum. Mrs. Harold Avery was the soloist, and Mrs. Dale Petty the accompanist. Mrs. Francis Fort, Mrs. Paul Smith, and Mrs. Gerald Durham composed the floral committee. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Dolle McGimsey was born February 16, 1877 in Indiana, a daughter of William and Sarah Guy McGimsey. She came to Red Oak with her parents at the age of five years, and has made this her home since that time. She was married 48 years ago at Red Oak to John Allen, who survives, also two sons, two daughters, a brother, three sisters, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The brothers and sisters are L. E. (Mose) McGimsey, Red Oak; Mrs. Steve Glandon, Berkeley, California; Mrs. Alma Lloyd and Mrs. Al Pace, both of Boulder, Colorado, and the children are Vernie Allen and Carroll Allen, both of Red Oak, Mrs. Bruno Lobojko and Mrs. Ivar Laggrend of Chicago.
