Mrs. Katie Houchin of Gary, Ind., is visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. Grant McQueen. From here she will go to Des Moines to visit her sister, Mrs. Nellie Lamar. (found online at redoak.advantage-preservation.com) Also found at the same website is this: Red Oak Express, Red Oak, Iowa, April 12, 1951, pg. 2, Mrs. Katie Houchin, who has resided in Red Oak most of her life, left Monday morning for Gary, Ind., to make her home. A daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Gress and family live in Gary.

He came to Iowa as a boy and was married March 7, 1897, to Katie Allen of Red Oak, who survives her husband, together with a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Gress, Gary, Ind., and a son, Eugene, in Atlantic City, N.J., and three grandchildren.
