FRANCISCA DALLAS
EL PASO, TEXAS--A funeral for Francisca "Francis" Mendez Dallas, 88, of Castile Avenue, El Paso, Texas, will be noon Friday at San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Valentine Jankowski officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. today at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. A vigil will be held 7:30 p.m. today at St. Edwards Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Hauer reciting.

Mrs. Dallas died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at home. She was born May 12, 1912, to Guiermo and Simona Valenzuela Mendez in Redford Texas. She lived in Texas until moving to Loving in the mid-1930s. In 1957, she married Angelo Dallas in Carlsbad. She worked for Kid's Academy and in the Carlsbad schools' cafeterias, retiring when she was 65. In 1999, she moved to El Paso to live with her daughter. Her hobbies included gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Raul Mendez and Juan Mendez; and a grandson, David Carrasco.
She is survived by daughters Ernestina Carrasco of Rio Rancho and Amelia Castillo of El Paso; sister Leandra Vila of Carlsbad; and 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Angel Campos, Roberto Holguin, Julian Mendez, Enrique Mendez, Michael Mendez, Fernando Castillo and Armando Luevano are named pallbearers.
