The Daily Notes, Canonsburg PA, Monday 29 March 1937, front page - ROB'T GUTHRIE FOUND DEAD IN HIS AUTOMOBILE - Well Known Man Dies of Heart Attack This Morning - Failing to return to his work after leaving material at a job this morning caused a search which resulted in finding the body of ROBERT FRANK GUTHRIE of 240 Smithfield Street, in his automobile parked in the rear of the First Presbyterian Church. In company with his son-in-law, HARRY CLOUD, Guthrie left his home about 8 o'clock and went to the Clark W. Sutherin residence, 33 East Pike Street, where he had work for the day. He left some material and drove to the First Presbyterian Church where he parked his automobile. He did not return to the Sutherin residence and after a time his son-in-law instituted a search. After telephoning the home he made inquiries at different places and then went to the parking lot. He found Mr. Guthrie dead in the car, with death to have occurred one or two hours previously. The body was taken to the Hinton Funeral Home and Assistant Coroner William H. McNary notified. He made an investigation and declared that death was due to a heart attack. The body will remain at the Hinton Mortuary until Tuesday at 9 a.m., where it may be viewed. It will be removed at that time to the late residence. Funeral services will be held at the late home Thursday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. George W. Buckner, pastor of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Oak Spring Cemetery. Well Known Man - Mr. Guthrie was one of the best known painters and paper hangers in Canonsburg where he had resided for the past 29 years, and had lived his entire lifetime in the vicinity. He was a son of MR. and MRS. ROBERT GUTHRIE and was born at Lawrence on June 16, 1883. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, MRS.
