Ivester
Mr. George Ivester, well known citizen of Stephens County, passed away suddenly at the home of Mr. Fred Rider where he had gone to visit early Friday morning.
Mr. Ivester was fifty-two years of age and had spent most of his life farming. He was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church. He had made many friends in all walks of life and his passing was a shock to the family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Rider, two sons, Claude, of Toccoa and Delbert in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Philippine islands. One son, Eugene was killed in World War II. He is also survived by ten sisters, Mrs. Joe Carter, Mrs. Bethel Findley, Mrs. Margaret Long, Mrs. Joe Grafton, Mrs. Glenn Yearwood, Mrs. Ake Hallford, Mrs. Sue Ivester, Mrs. Wallace Hallford, and Miss Eliza Ivester; one brother, Wilburn Ivester, of Texas.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at Old Toccoa Baptist Church, before a church overflowing with sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. Steve Rothell and Rev. Dave Yearwood, officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Otis Steele, Jim Dooley, Hoke Jordan and Cliff Rothell sang. Mrs. Ernest Leverette accompanist at the piano. Interment was in the Old Toccoa cemetery.
