MINDEN LA - Mrs. Jessie M. Shaffer, 84, a resident of Gibsland for the past 52 years died Friday in Arcadia Hospital after a lengthy illness. Survivors include her husband; three sons, James Paul Shaffer of Minden, Jessie M. Shaffer, Jr. of Springhill and John Wilson Shaffer of Cayce SC; five daughters, Mrs. Estelle Sanders of Shreveport, Mrs Velma Blackwell of Ruston, Mrs. Mae Pace of Cullen, Mrs. Sadie Chandler of Gibsland, Mrs. Cecil Kilpatrick of Arcadia; three brothers, Stacy Ouzts of Hodges SC, Eldred Ouzts and Luther Ouzts both of Greenwood SC, 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Burial in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery. First National Funeral Home of Minden. The Shreveport Times July 26, 1970.
