Kate had a daughter, Mildred, in 1900, who later married a man named Philip Phillips.
Kate married Charles Edgar Higgs on December 6, 1905 in Franklin County. Charles was the son of George W. and Sarah Young Higgs. The couple had two children, a son Bernard and a daughter, Ella Louis Higgs who died as an infant in 1911 at 11 months of indigestion.
Kate died at the age of 41 years due to gallstones. She is buried next to her infant daughter, Ella. They are both in unmarked graves. When I visited Maple Grove Cemetery, they told me that she and her infant are buried in the family plot with her mother and father-in-law, George W. & Sarah Higgs, who have a marker on their graves; however, there is no stone on Kate or the baby's graves.
