Catherine Hepp-Hummer
Mrs. Catherine Hummer, 81, died at 2 pm Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.A. Lonsway at Berwick. She had been critically ill since Thursday when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Hummer had been a resident of Seneca county all of her life with the exception of 20 years which she spent in Oklahoma City and Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a member of St. Boniface parish at New Riegel and funeral services are to be held in that church at 9 am Wednesday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Hummer is survived by four sons and two daughters, Ora, of Warren; Amos, of Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Emma Egan, Oklahoma City; and Walter and Mrs. H.A. Lonsway, both of Berwick. She also leaves two brothers and a sister, Frank and Jacob Heopf, both of Tiffin; and Mrs. Veronica Cramer, Oakland, California. Her husband died 34 years ago. There are 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. (Advertiser Tribune, 6/19/1993 page 21)
Catherine was the wife of John B. Hummer and the mother of their 7 children. She was the Administrator of her husband's estate after his death and on January 20, 1905 she sold the property to Nicholas and Margaret Thies for the sum of $2448.00. She died of Sclerosis of Arteries and Cerebral Paralysis (Stroke) at the home of her daughter, Aleta Lonsway, at the age of 81 years and is buried at St. Boniface Cemetery in New Riegel, plot #N-6, with her husband.
