Mary "Polly" Everman (1811-1873) was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and married Hazelwood Hughes on November 13, 1832. They had 11 known children together. Hazelwood's father was Peter Hughes who died in 1845 at the age of 80 (Source: Hughes Bible). They lived near Mt. Sterling until 1838 and then moved to Putman County, Indiana. About 1840 or 1841, they moved again to Shelby County, Illinois where they remained until about 1853 when they moved once more to Monroe County, Iowa. There, Mary died on February 19, 1873. Hazelwood died in Appanoose County, Iowa, on May 2, 1894 at the age of 84. He probably died at the home of his son John, and is buried in the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville, Iowa.

1) William Woodford - He was born November 11, 1834 in Kentucky.
2) Henry Clay - He was born February 17, 1836 in Kentucky.
3) Nancy Jane - She was born December 17, 1837 in Putman County, Indiana.
4) Samuel Allen - She was born May 8, 1839 in Putman County, Indiana.
5) Andrew Everman - He was born April 1, 1841 in Shelby County, Illinois.
6) Amanda Graham - He was born August 26, 1843 in Shelby County, Illinois.
7) James Hazelwood - He was born September 10, 1846 in Shelby County, Illinois.
8) Mary Clark - She was born July 21, 1850 in Shelby County, Illinois.
9) John Washington - He was born October 11, 1853 in Monroe County, Iowa. He married Nancy Everman his first cousin, daughter of Michael Everman (1825-1881).
10) Samuel Franklin - He was born August 23, 1856 in Monroe County, Iowa.
11) Malinda Ann - She was born March 31 ,1858 in Monroe County, Iowa. She married her first cousin, Franklin Everman, son of Michael Everman (1825-1881)
