Barton Stone Everman was likely named for Barton Warren Stone who converted his mother, Nancy Wasson, to the "New Light" at the old Cane Ridge Church in Bourbon County Kentucky. This church is still standing and is a shrine of the Disciples of Christ. Barton Stone married Martha Ann Wright on January 10, 1945 in Shelby County, Illinois. (From Shelby County, Illinois marriage records). Martha Ann was a daughter of William and Nancy Wright. In 1843, Shelby County was divided to form Moultrie County, and it was in Moultrie County they spent the rest of their lives. Barton was a Methodist preacher and farmer. Martha Ann was dead by 1860 and Barton died after 1880; both are buried in the Wright Cemetery, Moultrie County, Illinois.
