Leah P. Traxler, 95, formerly of Golden Years Community Home, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1905, the daughter of Billie B. and Mary M. Ward Brookins.
On June 17, 1925, she married David A. Traxler in Oakfield. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage together.
Leah was a graduate of Fond du Lac Rural Normal School and Oakfield High School. She was a teacher at Unity School in the Town of Oakfield.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and Memorial Women's Society. Leah enjoyed raising roses, gardening and playing the organ.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lea (Walter R.0 Eckert Jr. of Fond du Lac; a son, David B. (Claribelle) Traxler of Mission, Texas; a grandson, David James (Kim) Traxler; six granddaughters, Lynda (Ken) Lawlis, Marcia (James) Pflum, Suzanne Stoddart, Bethany (Steve) Jordan, Shelley ( David) Baker and Karen (Willie) Rangel; two step-granddaughters, Sonia (Wayne) Johnston and Lynne (Steve) Kottke; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 1992; a brother, Arnie Brookins; six half-sisters; and four half- brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with inurnment to take place at Avoca Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Memorial Baptist Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
