Leo was born June 27, 1925 in Ashford, Wis. to Kilian and Katherine (Hildman) Simon.
During the Korean War, Leo served his country in the U.S. Army. After the war, he continued the operation of his dairy farm in Ashford.
On Oct. 5, 1963, he married Ellenmarie Jakel of Sheboygan. In 1965 the couple made Sheboygan their home, residing in the family home at 2829 S. 15th St. for over 30 years.
Leo was employed in the maintenance dept. At the Security First National Bank budding until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Simon was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and V.F.W. Sheboygan Memorial Post 9156.
In addition to his wife, Ellenmarie, Leo is survived by two daughters, Karen (Mitchel) Grout of Durham, N, C. and Katherine R. Stevens of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Randy Stevens Jr., Joshua Stevens, Zachary D. Grout and Madison Michele Grout; a sister, Anna Gassner and a brother, Linus (Florence Simon; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Leo Jr. and Kevin Leo Simon; two sisters, Leona Simon and Rosemary Brath; two brothers, Claver and Peter "Simon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Glenn Powers, pastor. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Leo will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He leaves a legacy of honor and strong character for the family.
