Marion Benway, nicknamed "Bud" born in Red Oak, Iowa, was a long time resident of Ogden, Utah where he owned a shoe repair business originally located on 25th Street also referred to as "Two Bit Street.." 25th street, the main access to the now historic Union Station, was somewhat notorious over the years and is now preserved as part of Ogden's historic district. Eventually, Bud moved the business to another location but which is still part of the historic area. Family accounts state that he preferred the name Bud to his given name. Bud started his work career as a blacksmith, a trade he learned from his father and Grandfather, who lived in Norwood, Iowa. Bud met his wife Nellie Ward Evans in Denver where they married 19 Dec 1939. Bud and Nellie had one son, John
