Warren Delbert Cowger passed away Nov. 18, 2008.

Warren was born June 19, 1923, at Blue Earth, Minn., the youngest of eight children. His parents, George and Ethel (Ackley) Cowger, moved to Idaho with the children in 1929. Warren attended Lakeview School.
He worked locally at picking potatoes, haying, fought fires and often cooked and baked to feed the other firefighters; he flagged for MK and did mechanical work for MK on electric Bucyrus heavy equipment. He worked in the shipyards of Everett, Wash.

He married Elsie Dines and soon went into the U.S. Army, where he spent five years in Germany, knew and admired General George Patton.
Warren and Elsie had one son, Jerry Warren Cowger.

After discharge from the Army, Warren worked at logging from 1946 to 1948. He went to Washington and worked at the Fish Hatchery where he was an apprentice carpenter. He continued in building, mostly schools and commercial buildings around Bend, Ore., where he and Elsie spent much time with Jerry and his wife Dinah, and the grandsons over the 32 years he carpentered. Warren bought many houses which he renovated and sold in his own time. They did some wintering in the South.
Warren retired in Bend in 1986 and came to Nampa in 1989 to be near his brothers and sisters.

Warren and Elsie enjoyed 56 years together before her passing in 1996.
A favorite hobby for Warren was bird hunting with his dog.
Warren is survived all of his bothers and sisters.
He volunteered and enjoyed the Senior Center, especially the card playing and his many friends.

In May of 2007 he married Doris Fellows at Monument, Ore., attended by Jerry and Dinah.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Cowger; son, Jerry (Dinah) Cowger; three grandsons, Michael, Rodney and Scott Cowger; and eight great-grandsons.
