AGED MINISTER DIES.
Elder John W.H. Cliett, one of the oldest citizens and best known ministers of Randolph county, passed away last Friday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.E.J. Taylor, about four miles north of Roanoke. Elder Cliett was a man highly esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances. He had done much service for his fellow men in the long period of life allotted him.
Mr. Cliett was born in Fayette County, Georgia on August 18, 1823. He joined the Primitive Baptist church at 18 years of age and was ordained to the ministry at age 21, thus serving his church in that capacity 62 years. He was
moderator of the Beulah Baptist Association about 20 years.
The funeral occurred at Zion's Rest, four miles north of Roanoke at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. The services were conducted by Elder W.R. Avery.
Notwithstanding the inclement weather, a large congregation witnessed the services including a number of friends from Roanoke.

Whereas, God in his infinite wisdom has seen fit to remove from the stage of acting our ministerial brother and Elder John W. H. Cliett and, whereas in the death of Elder Cliett this church of Wehadkee as a member feels that she has sustained a great loss as he was ever faithful in the discharge of his duty as a minister of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, be it resolved by Wehadkee Church in conference assembled that we place this tribute to his memory in our church records in token of our love and esteem for our departed Brother and Father in Israel.
