NEW OXFORD - Mildred Katie Grote, 86, formally of Hampstead, Md., died Sunday January 23, 2011, at The Brethren Home in New Oxford.
Born November 24, 1924, in Brodbecks, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Carrie (Sterner) Berwager. She was the wife of Albert Nevin Grote who died December 8, 2007.
She was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at The Brethren Home and was in the ladies auxiliary at the Westminster Rescue Mission. She was also a member of Grace Bible Church in Manchester, Md. She was also involved in a Ladies Bible Study in Manchester, Md. She enjoyed being involved in the Super Sixties of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster, Md., and many other religious organizations and activities.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale L. and Dianne L. Grote of Hampstead, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Richard B. Jackson of Manchester, Md.; and a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis L. and C. Elaine Grote of Hampstead, Md.; brothers, Clyde Berwager and Jacob Berwager, both of Hanover.
She is also survived by five granddaughters, one step grandson, 11 great-grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church, 3250 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., with the Rev. Paul R. Wenzel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. or at the church from 9:30 until the time of service on Wednesday.
