HAMPSTEAD, MD Albert Nevin Grote, 83, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, Md. He was the husband of 62 years to Mildred Katie Berwager Grote. He was born on June 14, 1924, in Brodbecks, and was the son of the late Albert Eugene Grote and Bertie Mae Albright Grote. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, stationed in the Philippines during WWII on a PT boat and Mine sweeper. When he returned from the service, he was owner of Al's Barbershop in Hampstead, Md., where he was known as Al the Barber for over 50 years. He was an avid stamp collector and a member of Grace Bible Church in Manchester, Md. He was an active member and served on the board for both Westminster Rescue Mission and Youth for Christ. In addition, he was a member of Men for Missions. He loved to travel and went on missions to numerous countries. He was a volunteer with Brethren Home in New Oxford. Surviving in addition to his wife are his son and daughterin-law, Dale L. and Dianne L. Grote of Hampstead, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law Diane M. and Richard B. Jackson of Manchester, Md.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis L. and C. Elaine Grote of Hampstead, Md.; a sister, Julian S. Grote of Cordus; five granddaughters; one stepgrandson; 11 greatgrandchildren; two step greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will held be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church, 3250 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., with the Rev. Paul R. Wenzel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
