Ruthetta Garrett
HANOVER - Ruthetta (Berwager) Garrett, 94, went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 21, 2006, at her residence with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Clarence W. Garrett, who passed away August 17, 1997, ending a union of 63 years.
Born February 29, 1912, in Silver Run, Md., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Katie (Sterner) Berwager.
Ruthetta was a member of the Hanover Wesleyan Church and attended the Harvest Time Temple in Hanover. She loved to read the Bible and listen to Gospel music as well as watch game shows on television, especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Ruthetta was devoted to her family and grandchildren, and she greatly enjoyed spending time with her Siamese cat, Simon Peter.
Surviving are two sons, Clarence F. Garrett and his wife, Claudia of Albuquerque, N.M., and Donald Garrett and his wife, Julie of Hanover; one daughter, Darlene R. Cashman and her husband, James of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Robert Garrett, Sheila Falsone, Kristian Cashman, Ty Garrett, and Clifford Garrett; and four great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Sabastian, Dominic, and Contessa Falsone.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Berwager and Curtis Berwager; and six sisters, Gertrude Watchel, Viola Fanus, Tillie Runk, Goldie Luckenbaugh, and Helen Bubb.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with the Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. A viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bartholomew Union Cemetery, Hanover.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clarence F. Garrett, Donald Garrett, Kristian Cashman, Robert Garrett, Jacob Turner, and Ty Garrett.
