Robert L. Breese, 83, of 205 W. Williams died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at his residence. Born Dec. 25, 1921, in Galva, Ill., the son of Archie and Teckla Lindbergh Breese, he married Rosemary T. Ryan on Sept. 25, 1946, in Wyoming, Ill. She died March 18, 2005, in Peoria. Surviving are five sons, Mike (and Cathy) of Wyoming, Ill., Steve (and Marcia) of Jacksonville, Ill., Bill (and Clarita) of Jefferson City, Mo., Tom (and Julie) of Rockton, Ill., and Jim (and Rhea) of Toulon, Ill.; four daughters, Mary Breese of Washington, Ill., Jinx (and Rodney) Thorne and Theresa (and Bill) Strode, both of Wyoming, Ill., and Martha Breese of Peoria, Ill.; one brother, Elliott (and Lois) of Chillicothe, Ill.; and two sisters, Mildred (and Floyd ) Rashid of Atkinson, Ill., and Evalyn (and Sam) Williams of Chillicothe, Ill. His parents preceded him in death.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 8th Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. He was a radio operator on the B-17 bomber Sittin Pretty in the 96th Bomber Group of the 337th Squadron, completing 35 missions. He was awarded the Air Medal 5 Oak Leaf Cluster.
