ADAMS RITES ON MONDAY
Final rites were held Monday morning from the McBride funeral home to St. Mary's Catholic church in Guttenberg for Mrs. Catherine M. Adams, 81. Mrs. Adams died last Thursday night at the Guttenberg Municipal hospital.
Rev. Alfred J. Schmitz, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiated at the Requiem High Mass and burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Terry Adams, Tony Adams, Parry Adams, Ronald Walters, Gary Spoden and Kurt Moser.
Mrs. Adams was born August 5, 1885 at Lancaster, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Harashe. During most of her childhood until the age of 13 she lived near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and on February 17, 1903 she was married to the late Mathias J. Adams, who died in 1958 at Lancaster, Wisconsin. Following their marriage they farmed near North Buena Vista until their retirement in 1943.
Surviving Mrs. Adams are three sons, Larry Adams of Holy Cross, Arthur Adams of Guttenberg and Clarence Adams of Dubuque; and six daugthers, Mrs. Arthur Meyer of Dubuque, Mrs. Kenneth Walters of Guttenberg, Mrs. Lyle Knapp of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Elinor Spodes of Luxemburg, Mrs. Virgil Moser of Prairieburg and Miss Agnes Adams of Elkader.
Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Nolte in 1947, as well as her husband.
