THE DEATH OF CECIL ARTHUR RUSK
(NEWS) Journal newsboy Joe Dukes, 8143 South Twenty-eight, lent a helping hand the other day to continue the fine tradition of carrier-salesman courtesy. And he may have helped save a life. As he placed a paper inside the screen door of the home of Cecil Rusk, 2704 Kossuth, he heard a weak cry of "HELP". Rusk was critically ill and barely able to talk. Joe and neighbor Mrs. Charles E. Pope called police who got Rusk to the hospital. Cecil Rusk, 47, died at 2 p.m. Saturday at Home hospital. He had been a patient there one day, but had been hospitalized there for 26 days then returned home a short time ago. He had been ill of a heart ailment for about three years. Born in Sheffield township he graduated from Wea high school and in 1945 married Helen Hesler at Stockwell. He was employed by Ross Gear and Tool company. He was a member of Congress Street Methodist church, Masonic lodge 4982, Faith Chapter of OES at Clarks Hill and Eagles lodge. Surviving are the widow; two children by a previous marriage, Gerald Rusk of Clayton, N. J , and Darlene Rusk of Stockwell; four brothers, John and Charles of this city, Walter of West Lafayette, and Dave of Frankfort; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Todd of Lodoga. Friends may call at Dickerson funeral, home, Stockwell, after 2 p.m. Tuesday Rev. Barton Fletcher officiating; interment Johnson cemetery.
